Ammunition Ammunition
Wax bullets propelled by shotgun primers.

Holsters
Steel in the boot or belt of the holster is NOT allowed. All other western holsters including Hollywood and droploop will be allowed upon O.T.G.A. approval. Holsters must be tied down to the side of the leg.

Clothing Style
Western wear.

Shooting Styles
Thumbing only. The trigger finger must be out of the trigger guard after the set command is given until the light signal comes on. The barrel of the gun must be clearly discharged in front of the holster.

Target
A 24-inch round metal target with the light centered in the middle. The target will be set 50-inch to center from the ground.

Event
Man against man fast draw elimination shot at 21' distance from the target. Normally 3 out of 5 elimination (one shooter must win 3 shots against his opponent to win the round), and 3X (you can lose 3 rounds before you're out of the contest), but these can be changed by the contest host as they see fit.

Host Clubs
O.T.G.A. clubs are not charged association fees of any kind. When hosting a shoot, no more than $25 per shooter can be deducted from the entry fees for the host club. The remainder of monies will be awarded back to the shooters. If there is a sponsor, 100% of that money will be awarded back to the shooters. A receipt will be provided to the sponsor, with a copy going to the O.T.G.A.

Old West Gunfighter Association Shooting Categories
There will be two categories for men, and one category for women. Men can shoot Gunfighter or Gunslinger, whichever they prefer, as long as they shoot within the time break.

Gunfighter Category: Must shoot .549 or faster (times must be 0 to .549). The penalty for shooting .550 or slower is loss of shot.

Gunslinger Category: Must shoot .550 or slower (times must be .550 and up). The penalty for shooting .549 or faster is loss of shot.

At this time we see no need for two women categories. However, if women see a need for a second category, so be it.

Competition Details
All prize money will be split 50/50 between the Gunfighter and Gunslinger categories. Both categories will receive the same prize structure.

Example: If 50 shooters sign up in Mens categories and the entry fee is $150:
    Total entry fee paid: $7,500
Less $25 per shooter for the host club: $1,250
Balance to be paid to the shooters: $6,250

    Gunfighter
    ($3,125 prize money)
         Gunslinger
    ($3,125 prize money)
    1st $1,000 1st $1,000
    2nd $800 2nd $800
    3rd $600 3rd $600
    4th $400 4th $400
    5th $325 5th $325
If there is a sponsor, 100% of that money will be split 50/50 and added to the prize structure. For example, if you have $6,000 sponsor money, then the prize structure above would almost double.

Women will shoot for their own prize money, plus a percentage of sponsor money. The women's prize structure will be broken down to the top five shooters.
